Chuck Findley M (66M) One Piece Trumpet Mouthpiece
This mouthpiece is designed to meet the needs of a player who likes a mouthpiece size similar to a Bach 3C, GR 66M, Curry 3C, Schilke 14B4, or similar mouthpiece with a roughly .66 to .665 inch rim inner diameter and a medium cup.
The 66M has our new Double Oval Cup (DOC). The diameter of the rim and cup in the vertical dimension is 10/1000 of an inch larger than it is from side to side. This means that the oval shape of the Wedge rim is continued down to the base of the cup where it joins the throat. The DOC design, found only in Wedge mouthpieces, provides the added efficiency of a smaller mouthpiece with the big sound, clear attacks, and flexibility of the larger mouthpiece.
Optional Angled Rim Feature
No Angled Rim - Choose unless you have a big overbite that angles your horn down. - Most players do not need an angled rim.
5 Degree Angled Rim - Choose only if you have a big overbite that angles your horn down 5 degrees. [Add USD-$40.00]
10 Degree Angled Rim - Choose if you have a large overbite that angles your horn down 10 degrees. [Add USD-$40.00]
27 - The #27 throat is the size found on most standard Bach, Yamaha, Schilke, and other mouthpieces. It is the best choice unless you are already playing on a larger throat.
25 - The slightly larger #25 throat is popular with orchestral players. It has a more open blow and produces a broader sound. However it does require more air support. It is the standard size on most Bach megatone and Yamaha GP model mouthpieces. Choose this size if you are already playing on a 25 or larger throat.
Gold - NO RETURN [Add USD-$70.00]
Gold Rim and Cup Only [Add USD-$60.00]
This is one of the three Wedge Signature mouthpieces of Wedge Endorsing Artist Chuck Finley. The Chuck Findley M is the deepest cup in the Chuck Finley line. It is used when he wants a darker, more melodic sound. Chuck plays all of his Wedge mouthpieces with a #27 throat and a 10 degree angled rim.
Inner Diameter: .660 measured .04 inches into the cup.
Outer Diameter: 1.114
Cup Depth: This mouthpiece has an M (Medium) cup, which is similar to a Bach 7E, Schilke or Yamaha B, Curry M, and Warburton M cup. It is an excellent all round mouthpiece with a very versatile sound. It is suitable for concert band, marching band, and jazz or big band. The M cup can also be made to blend in a chamber group or orchestral setting, especially when used with a heavyweight backbore in order to darken the sound. It functions well as a Piccolo trumpet mouthpiece with a medium cup is desired.
Players using a Bach 3C should select the V cup modification option, which makes the M cup more similar to the Bach 3C and darkens the sound slightly.
Backbore: This mouthpiece comes on a Medium backbore.
Wedge Generation 2 Line
- The Generation 2 trumpet mouthpieces are designed to incorporate the advantages of the Wedge rim and oval cup in a mouthpiece that is very comfortable and easy to adapt to from a conventional rim. The rim is slightly wider than our original Standard Brand rims. This mouthpiece has our new Double Oval Cup (DOC).
- Acclimatisation time varies, but most players find they have fully adjusted to the new rim shape within a few days. Most players are able to alternate between a Wedge rim and conventional rim, although the vast majority of players will convert all of their mouthpieces to the Wedge design because of its obvious advantages once they have adapted. We do offer discounts to players who need to purchase a number of Wedge mouthpieces for various instruments.
Guarantee and Return Policy
- Most Wedge mouthpieces come with our 90 day money back guarantee. The mouthpiece can be returned for a full refund if it is not clearly superior to your regular mouthpiece, provided it is still in new condition (minor insertion marks are accepted). Exceptions are custom mouthpieces and fully gold plated mouthpieces. Free shipping is available to most locations with certain exceptions due to the high rate of mouthpiece lost during shipping.
- These mouthpieces are offered with silver plating or a combination of gold and silver, or all gold plating. Mouthpieces with a combination of gold and silver plating have gold on the rim and cup and silver on the outside of the mouthpiece. These mouthpieces can also be returned for a refund or exchange for other sizes. Mouthpieces that have complete gold plating cannot be returned because they always have evidence of scratches and wear on the shank.
